Valve Releases Small Client Update – Stable & Beta Patch Notes 11/29/23

steamos 3.5.9 preview update patch notes for december 5th 2023

As the we get through the first half of the week, Valve has just released a new Steam Deck Client Update for both stable and beta users. The update is rather small and mainly includes various bug fixes for minor issues. Nevertheless, it’s still a welcomed update and one that will be installed immediately.

Stable Client Patch Notes

In the November 29th update have three different categories of fixes for Steam Input, Desktop Mode and more.

General

  • Fixed mouse clicks in the overlay for CS2
  • Fixed an issue where unlocking Family View in the client would sometimes not unlock checkout
  • Fixed an issue where the controller info interstitials could be scaled incorrect on Steam Deck or other small monitors
  • Fixed an issue where VR-only games could be shown with the “Controller Required” notice along with no controller support

Steam Input

  • Added support for the NACON Revolution 5 Pro controller
  • Fix: Nintendo Joy-Con gyro turn rates are now correctly calibrated for natural angles. Was previously at 80% real world turn rate.
  • Fix: “Gyro to…” modes jumping when adding/removing action layers or switching action sets.
  • Fix: Sony Dualshock accelerometer reading was incorrect on initial connection via Bluetooth.

Desktop Mode

  • Fixed display of disk space available in “Add a new Steam library folder” dialog
  • Fixed “HDR Visualization” dropdown showing in cases where it is not supported.

I know some people with the Revolution 5 Pro controller who will be happy to see this update finally rolling out. The same can be said for PlayStation Dualshock users, too. And I can’t be the only who has been confused about the HDR Visualization option appearing in games where it isn’t even supported.

Beta Client Patch Notes

The November 29th Beta Steam Deck Client update Valve just released is much smaller than the Stable build, and actually includes one of the fixes mentioned above.

Desktop Mode

  • Fixed “HDR Visualization” dropdown showing in cases where it is not supported.

So again, something that I’m sure has confused more than one person while digging through the Quick Settings menu.
